BH.05.JUN0816.R04 – Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Update

L. Bowden reviewed Human Resources Committee Report BH.05.JUN0816.R04:

  • This is the first report on this matter intended to inform the Committee as to what WDGPH has been working on with respect to this legislation.

  • The new WDGPH website will be AODA accessible. 

Committee directed L. Bowden to look into whether you can speak to the new website and if it can respond as well as if our elevators announce each floor.

BH.05.JUN0816.R05 – Overview of Group Benefits 

L. Bowden reviewed Human Resources Committee Report BH.05.JUN0816.R05:

  • WDGPH has made minor modifications to the WDGPH employer group benefits (eg. capped the amount for a drug dispensing fee).

BH.05.JUN0816.R06 – Emergency Preparedness Health & Safety Framework

L. Bowden reviewed Human Resources Committee Report BH.05.JUN0816.R06:

  • The Emergency Preparedness Health & Safety Officer is a new position for WDGPH. WDGPH never had Canadian Registered Safety Professional trained staff prior to November 2015. In most agencies, this is 2 separate roles.

  • The Health & Safety component is for employees and the Emergency Preparedness component is for both employees and the communities.

  • WDGPH uses the IMS system for emergency preparedness situations.

  • On-going management training is taking place. PHO tabletop exercise is scheduled for June 14/16.

  • Safe lifting training, for WDGPH management, has been scheduled to take place in 2016.

Dr. Mercer reviewed Human Resources Committee Report BH.05.JUN0816.R08: Amendments required as follows: Appendix “A” - Policy – Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Under “Policy Statement:”, on the first line, add the word “appropriate” prior to “resources”.
    Under “References and Related Forms, Policies and Procedures:”, add CA.51.01.112 - Procurement.

Appendix “B” – Procedure – Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Under “Responsibility: and under “BOH Members will:” delete the words “Request and” in the first line.

  • ​​Under “References and Related Forms, Policies and Procedures:”, add CA.51.02.112 – Procurement.

Appendix “D” – Procedure – Emergency Preparedness:

  • Under “Responsibility: and under BOH Members Will:” delete the words “Request and” in the first line.
