At Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, we work every day to protect health and promote well-being in our communities—where you live, learn, work, and play.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the work of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health operates on the traditional lands and home of the Hodinöhsö:ni’ [ho-den-o-show-nee], Anishinaabek [ah-nish-in-ah-bek], Tionontati [tee-oh-non-tah-tee] and Attawandaron [add-a-won-da-run] people, and is steeped in the tradition of many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.
As an Agency, we encourage our staff, partners and clients to support the work of reconciliation and promote healing with our Indigenous neighbours.
We are also committed to reducing social inequities and will strive to make our services culturally appropriate and safe for all Indigenous people, their families and their community.
Our Mission
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health protects health and promotes overall well-being so everyone in our communities can thrive.
We put this mission into action every day by preventing illness, supporting healthy living, responding to public health emergencies and working with partners to improve health outcomes across our region.
What We Do
Public health is all around you—even if you don’t always see it. Our work helps keep your water clean, your food safe, and your community healthy.
We:
- Run immunization, sexual health and dental clinics.
- Offer parenting programs that support healthy child development.
- Monitor environmental hazards and respond to disease outbreaks or public health emergencies.
- Inspect food premises, pools, spas, salons, and tattoo/piercing studios to ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Respond to infection control concerns in healthcare settings.
- Advocate for policies and laws that make it easier for everyone to live healthier lives.
- Conduct and share local health research to guide decisions in our communities.
- Support health care providers with up-to-date information on diseases and best practices.
- Maintain immunization records for students and ensure compliance with school requirements.
- Enforce laws that protect people from the harms of tobacco and promote smoke-free environments.
How We Work
We are governed by a Board of Health and guided by our Strategic Plan. Every year, we publish a Community Report that highlights our progress, partnerships and impact.
Our team includes nurses, public health inspectors, health promoters, epidemiologists, dental professionals, administrative staff, and many others—all working together for the health of our communities.
Communities We Serve
We are proud to serve the diverse and vibrant communities across Wellington County, Dufferin County, and the City of Guelph.
From rural towns to urban neighbourhoods, we tailor our programs and services to meet the unique needs of each community—supporting everyone to achieve the vision of “Health and well-being for all.”
