Congregate settings include facilities where people—most of whom are not related—live or stay overnight and share spaces like sleeping areas, kitchens and bathrooms.
WDG Public Health works with congregate settings such as long-term care homes, retirement homes, shelters, and group homes to manage outbreaks and support infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards to prevent the spread of illness.
The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph IPAC Hub provides education, training and support for people who work in congregate settings. If you work in a congregate setting and need assistance, contact 1-800-265-7293 ext. 4752 or congregatesetting@wdgpublichealth.ca with any questions or to request a service.
