Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will host a virtual parent information session on “Cannabis and other Drugs” on May 15 from 7-8 p.m. The session will be hosted by Associate Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, WDG Public Health. Dr. Tenenbaum will discuss the impacts and harms of cannabis and other substances amongst youth, offer tips on how to talk to youth about substance use and answer questions from attendees. Alternatively, questions can be submitted prior to the event via an online form before 9 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024.
“Talking to our children about substance use can be a tricky subject to broach. We hope this session provides information to parents about the types of substances their youth may be encountering and their potential harms, but we also hope parents and caregivers leave the session with some additional confidence to start some of these conversations with their children or young people in their life.”
For more information or to register, visit wdgpublichealth.ca/YouthSubstanceUseEvent.
While this session is primarily intended for parents and caregivers of youth, Public Health welcomes anyone from the WDG community to attend. For those unable to attend, a recording of the event and a summary of answers to any questions will be available following the event at wdgpublichealth.ca.
