A Special Air Quality Statement is in effect for the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph regions.
High levels of air pollution due to smoke from forest fires is expected today and possibly into Saturday.
Smoke plumes from forest fires over northeastern Ontario and Quebec has returned to the area resulting in deteriorated air quality once again. The smoke will possibly linger into Saturday.
WDG Public Health is encouraging all residents to monitor for symptoms of smoke exposure and seek medical care when necessary. Stop or reduce your activity level if breathing is uncomfortable or you are feeling unwell. People respond differently to smoke, and it is important to be aware of how your body is feeling.
Air quality and visibility can change from hour to hour. To view the most up-to-date Air Quality Health Index for your area and what precautions to take, visit Environment Canada’s Air Quality Health Index and click “Show Health Message” for more information.
