WDG Public Health requests public assistance in dog biting incident

September 6, 2024

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph (WDG) Public Health is seeking assistance from the public to find the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred in Mount Forest on Wednesday September 4th. At approximately 11:30 AM, a young woman was bitten by a dog described as black and white brindle on Queen St. in Mount Forest. The owner of the dog was described as a short older man with white hair, no facial hair and a limp. The dog was reported to have bitten the young woman numerous times as she intervened between it and a smaller dog.

WDG Public Health inspectors need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment. If you have any information related to this incident, please contact Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health at phi.intake@wdgpublichealth.ca or 1-800-265-7293 ext. # 4753.
