COVID-19 Vaccine Recommendations (primary series and booster doses)

Staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines offers the best protection from serious illness. Bivalent boosters are available at our clinics to anyone age 5+ who is eligible (see chart below). Spring 2023 booster dose recommendations

A spring booster dose is recommended for the following high-risk populations if it has been six months (168 days) since your last dose or COVID-19 infection. If you received your fall booster on or after September 1, 2022 and are not part of a high-risk group, a spring booster is not recommended.

High-risk groups recommended for a spring booster:

  • Individuals 65 years and older
  • Residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes, elder care lodges, and other congregate living settings for seniors
  • Individuals 18 years and older living in congregate care settings for people with complex medical care needs
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Individuals 18 years and older are moderately to severely immunocompromised
  • Individuals aged 55 years and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis and their non-Indigenous household members aged 55 years and older.

  • Drop in for an appointment at a Public Health clinic.
  • Call 1-800-265-7293 ext. 7006.
  • Contact your healthcare provider.
  • Contact your nearest participating pharmacy.

    • 2nd dose, 2 months (56 days) after 1st dose (minimum 21 days)
    • 3rd dose, 2 months (56 days) after 2nd dose (minimum 56 days)
  • Moderna
    • 2nd dose, 2 months (56 days) after 1st dose (minimum 28 days)

Booster doses: not eligible

5 years and older

Primary series:

  • 2nd dose, 2 months (56 days) after 1st dose (minimum 28 days)

Booster doses:

  • 6 months (168 days) after last dose or COVID-19 infection
Immunocompromised individuals ages 6 months to 4 years

Primary series:

  • Pfizer:
