First and Second Dose Appointment Booking Status

WDG Public Health will begin online booking for second doses on Monday June 14. Individuals who received a first dose from WDG Public Health on or before May 9 will receive an email or text from Public Health with booking instructions. Appointment invitation emails or text messages will be sent between Monday June 14 and Wednesday June 16. Please check your junk/spam folders. If you are unable to book your appointment online, call 1-844-780-0202 beginning Monday.

If you have not heard from WDGPH within five days after pre-registering for your first dose appointment, call the appointment booking help line at 1-844-780-0202.

Second Dose Appointment Booking Status

Please note: We are currently offering second dose appointments as per the provincial eligibility criteria. The following chart indicates who is eligible to book and when to call for an appointment through Public Health. Anyone who is eligible based on the provincial criteria may also book their second dose at a pharmacy or with their healthcare provider if they are offering it, regardless of where the first dose was administered.

Residents of Long-term Care and Retirement Homes

Currently booking second doses within 21-28 days of first dose-or as soon as possible if it has been more than 28 days.

Public Health is working directly with facilities to identify eligible individuals.

Certain highest-risk health conditions including:

  • Transplant recipients (including solid organ transplants and hematopoietic stem cell transplants)

  • Individuals with malignant hematologic disorders and non-hematologic malignant solid tumours receiving active treatment (chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy), excluding individuals receiving solely hormonal therapy or radiation therapy 

  • Individuals undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis

Currently booking second doses within 21-28 days of first dose, or as soon as possible if it has been more than 28 days.

Public Health is working directly with healthcare providers.

Eligible individuals in this group should contact their healthcare provider who will complete a referral form and send it to Public Health

Indigenous individuals and members of their household

Currently booking second doses within 21-28 days of first dose, or as soon as possible if it has been more than 28 days.

Individuals in this group should call 1-800-265-7293 ext. 0 to book their second dose appointment.

Individuals who received their first dose on or before May 9, 2021

Beginning Monday, June 14, individuals who received their first dose on or before May 9 are eligible to book a second dose appointment. You will receive an email and/or text message with booking instructions.

Individuals who received their first dose on or before May 9 can expect to receive an appointment booking invitation email and/or text. Because more than 60,000 invitations will be sent, invitations will go out between Monday and Wednesday, June 14-16. Check your junk/spam folders regularly.

 

Individuals having trouble booking online can call 1-844-780-0202 for support beginning Monday, June 14.

If you received your first dose from a pharmacy, primary care provider or at any other clinic in Ontario outside of WDG on or before May 9, you can either get your second dose from the same provider as your first, or call us at 1-844-780-0202.

Residents who received AstraZeneca as their first dose and choose to receive an mRNA vaccine for their second dose We are currently booking second doses for this group at a 12-week interval (or as soon as appointment availability allows).

You may get your second dose at a participating pharmacy that is offering Pfizer or Moderna or from your healthcare provider. Please contact them directly.

 

To get your second dose of an mRNA vaccine through Public Health, you can now pre-register online for an appointment. Be sure to select “Received AstraZeneca as my first dose…” for your Reason for Immunization. Please note, this selection on the pre-reg site is only for people who got AstraZeneca as their first dose.

All other individuals who had their first dose of an mRNA vaccine after May 9

Most residents will be eligible for their second dose 16 weeks (or earlier) after your first dose.

Most residents who had got their first dose after May 9 would have been scheduled for a second dose on their way out of the clinic.

 

If not, you will be contacted when you are eligible to book your second dose online. You may also visit a participating pharmacy.

Individuals who received their first dose in another province or country
 

You will be eligible for a second dose 16 weeks after your first dose (unless you meet one of the above exceptions).

If you got your first dose on or before May 9 in another province or country and require your second dose in WDG, please call 1-844-780-0202 (starting June 14).

 

Please note you must bring your proof of vaccination with you on the day of your second dose appointment.
