POLICY STATEMENT

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) wants to ensure that employees who are required to use their personal vehicle as a condition of their employment to conduct Agency business carry automotive business insurance. 

All full-time and part-time permanent employees who must regularly drive (on a weekly basis) as part of their work assignment and as a result require business class insurance will be eligible on proof of claim on an annual basis, to a maximum reimbursement of up to $100 from the Agency after one year of employment. 

Reimbursement for new employees will be prorated based on their insurance renewal date.

Casual and contract employees are not eligible for automobile insurance coverage and reimbursement.

Employees must obey Ontario and Canadian safe driving rules. Violations of the Agency’s Safe Driving Policy may follow Guidelines of Administration Discipline as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all WDGPH full-time and part-time permanent employees.
