POLICY STATEMENT

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) provides both wired and wireless access to an electronic data network for the purpose of file storage, printing and access to the Internet and electronic mail. The security of the network and the data it contains is of the utmost importance to the agency.  Because of this, access to this network is restricted to employees of WDGPH or students unless exceptional circumstances exist and even in those cases, it is restricted to access to the Internet.          

Access to the WDGPH data network will only be given to non-agency personnel in exceptional circumstances under the supervision of agency employees where the appropriate technical provisions have been established.  These provisions could include but are not restricted to; a computer and login expressly for visitor use.

The IT department will make available a wireless security key specifically for guest users which will allow access only to the internet.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all WDGPH employees including volunteers, students and contracts.
